DEA National Rx TakeBack Day

Prescription Drug Abuse is the fastest-growing drug problem in the US.

  • In El Paso County in 2018, there were twice the number of drug overdose deaths (133) as there were fatal motor vehicle accidents.
  • 1 in 7 Colorado high school students has taken prescription medications without a doctor’s prescription. Over half of teens say that it’s easy to get prescription drugs from their parent’s medicine cabinets.
  • According to results from the 2017 National Survey on Drug Use and Health, an estimated 2 million Americans misused prescription pain relievers for the first time within 2017, which averages to approximately 5,480 initiates per day.
